Chautauqua Hiking

It was in the 60’s and 70’s this past weekend in Boulder, and a bunch of us took advantage of the good weather by going hiking in Chautauqua Park.

The trails were pretty muddy at the start and after a mile or so in they turned snowy/icy. We’d planned on doing the Royal Arch hike, which finally reopened three months ago (after the September 2013 flood damage) but we just ended up wandering up the trail a ways to a little rocky perch before we headed back down to the start.

It was a bit precarious coming back down, due to the snow and ice — we all fell at *least* once, and I got several awesome character-building scrapes on my legs and arms. 🙂 It was close to 2pm and we were all starving by the time we got back to the car, so we headed to Mountain Sun on Pearl for lunch.

And after lunch, it was nap time in the living room for all five of us:
